How to make

Here are the steps you should follow to prepare homemade coconut oil:

  • The first thing you need to do is choose coconuts. To start with, we recommend that you choose coconuts that are ripe but still fresh and of good quality.
  • Then break the coconuts with a suitable tool. When finished, remove the coconut pulp that is stuck to the shell with a knife and rinse the pieces well.
  • Cut the coconut in half with a knife and drain the coconut water into a jar.
  • After that, cut them into small pieces and place them in a blender. We recommend grinding the coconut pieces with hot water to make them soft.
  • Then put everything in a strainer to separate the milk from the coconut.
  • Then press with your hands to squeeze well. We recommend using a sieve with a finer mesh to remove the smallest particles of coconut milk.
  • When finished, cover bowl with coconut milk and refrigerate overnight. The purpose is to cool the container to allow the oil to solidify.

final steps

  • The next morning, you will observe how the coconut oil separates from the water and rises to the surface.
  • Take the white coconut oil and place it in a stainless steel pan. Don’t forget that the water that remains in the container still has a coconut flavor and you can use it for any recipe that uses coconut milk.
  • Finally, cover the pan and heat over low heat. You should cook until you notice that some coconut slices are fried in oil. Later, remove the pan from the heat so that the coconut oil cools down a bit. If you still notice chips in the coconut oil, you can sift it with a cloth strainer or gauze to remove them.
