Find Out How To Wash Your Hair With Egg Yolk

In this article, we’ll explain how you can take advantage of egg yolk, a food that will help you wash your hair naturally.

Many foods that are beneficial to the body can also be excellent remedies for the skin and hair, as they contain many vitamins and minerals and, in addition, do not contain chemical additives. An example is egg yolk.

In this article, we’ll explain how you can take advantage of this element, a food that will help to wash your hair in a natural way and keep it clean and hydrated for longer.

A very natural food

Egg is an essential element in the diet, despite having been much criticized for raising cholesterol levels. However, it is one of the foods that remains more natural today, unlike other products of natural origin, such as meat or milk, which tend to be more processed and adulterated.

This benefit not only affects health, but also allows you to have a completely natural and simple shampoo: egg yolk.

What does the gem offer us?

Our grandmothers already used egg yolk to wash their hair and keep it hydrated, silky and shiny.

But why the yolk?

  • Contains group B vitamins (B1, B3, B12, folic acid and biotin), A, E and D.
  • Contains minerals such as selenium, zinc, phosphorus or iron.

There are those who not only used the yolk, but also mixed it with the shampoo. In this way, they continued to wash their hair with the same product and kept their hair more nourished.

In this article we propose to use egg yolk exclusively as a shampoo.

What is necessary?

  • An egg yolk, with no remnants of white. If you have long hair, you will probably need two buds.

We recommend using farm eggs as they are quite natural. You can also use organic eggs, but we find them too expensive to use in shampoo.

Egg odor tends to disappear when hair dries, but if it bothers you enough, you can add five drops of essential oil to the yolk and mix it well. We recommend some of the following oils:

  • Tea tree: to eliminate dandruff.
  • Mint: for freshness.
  • Orange or tangerine: sweet and delicious aroma.
  • Lemon: for greasy hair.
  • Lavender: combats dandruff and has relaxing effects.

How to apply?

  1. On damp hair, apply the egg yolk as if it were your usual shampoo.
  2. Then spread it well over the head, massage gently and let it work for 1 minute.
  3. Afterwards, wash thoroughly with warm water. It is important not to use hot water, as if there is any residue of the white, it will cook with the heat and then it will be more difficult to remove the pieces of our hair.

Using vinegar as a conditioner

If you want to continue using all-natural hair care products, the next step would be to use a natural conditioner: apple cider vinegar.

  1. Mix one part apple cider vinegar in five parts water.
  2. If your hair is very dry, add more vinegar, and if your hair is oilier, add more water.
  3. Wash your hair with this mixture and then rinse it with water.

For very dry hair

This shampoo is ideal for hair that is dry, damaged or with oily roots and split ends.

Once a week or every ten days, also use a mask, which can be conventional or even natural, with ingredients such as yogurt, avocado or ripe banana.

Also, you can avoid dry, split ends by applying a little coconut oil when your hair is still damp.

Other 100% natural shampoos

In previous articles we have presented other foods or natural products that also serve as shampoos. We recommend these too, so you can find the one best suited for your hair:

  • Baking soda and apple cider vinegar: probably the most economical shampoo. We do not recommend it for very dry hair.
  • Ghassoul: This clay is traditionally used in Arab countries for both skin and hair. It not only cleans hair deeply, it also lets you wash less, unlike conventional shampoos.
