5 Habits Of Honest People
Honest people enjoy a better quality of life, are happier and face problems in a more honest and brave way.
This is so for a very simple reason: honest people are not the smartest people, nor are they the ones who always know the truth about things: they are profiles with a firm consistency between what they think and what they do.
Curious as it may seem, this kind of psychological principle is not easy to put into practice.
Honesty of mind and actions requires an adequate personal development, in which we have to be genuine, authentic and sincere with ourselves and with others.
Next, we propose to delve a little deeper into the characteristics that define this very valuable quality of a personality.
1. Honest people are not afraid to tell the truth
Honesty is useless if we are not able to have the courage to defend and always demand the truth in each of the contexts that surround it.
- Whoever has an honest heart does not admit injustice, blackmail, half-truths or outright lies.
- This honesty that we try to keep to ourselves we must also demand of others.
- On the other hand, we all know that it’s not particularly easy to defend and spread that kind of personal integrity.
There are many scenarios in which that camouflaged dishonesty reigns, that harmful hypocrisy against which we have to constantly defend ourselves.
2. They are people aware of their limitations, their defects
It is useless for us to demand honesty from other people if we are not able to practice it with ourselves.
- In our day to day, there is no shortage of people who boast of a multitude of virtues. However, they are alone, because in their day to day they do not apply even a principle of what they preach.
- It’s not the case with honest people. In this case, they are profiles that have made an adequate inner journey and are aware of their limitations, their flaws and their black holes.
- They know which aspects must improve on themselves, which weaknesses and weaknesses must be overcome moment by moment and step by step.
On the other hand, this self-knowledge favors a personal congruence in which actions and thoughts are harmonized, in which there are no falsehoods or Manichaeism: only the balance of a humble and respectful heart.
3. They are transparent people: they demonstrate what they really are
Being transparent is not allowing others to see our intimacies, nor is being vulnerable like a thin crystal window.
- Honesty is synonymous with transparency because everything that each one of us does, says and demonstrates is in harmony with our own personality.
- There is no bias or dissonance. What’s more, being honest is always maintaining the same conduct, the same treatment and the same way of relating to others.
- Being transparent always and at all times is not simple either, because if there is something that usually characterizes human beings, it is their volatile, changeable nature.
Therefore, we find ourselves in that constant need to “fit in” and be accepted by everyone and in any context.
The honest person doesn’t have this problem: if something doesn’t please him or goes against his principles, he manifests.
4. Honest people fight for what they believe
In certain cases, the most honest, humble and noble people are the ones who feel the loneliness and even rejection from many around them.
This is so for a very simple reason: at times honesty is offensive and a person is not afraid to say out loud what he doesn’t like, which for him is neither nice nor respectful.
Hardly anyone likes that sincerity that doesn’t mince words, nor that voice that doesn’t hide when it comes to making things clear.
All of this often makes honesty uncomfortable and a hypocrite or docile and manageable person is preferable.
5. Honest people inspire, set the example
A person who lives their daily lives in congruence, in that perfect balance between values and actions, usually inspires those who know how to appreciate the truth.
It may be that they create some enmity by their frankness. But the wise eye, which knows how to value the pillars of goodness and integrity of these profiles, greatly appreciates them.
Thus, they are great friends or family that we deeply appreciate and co-workers who day after day make our lives easier, more beautiful.
