Exposure to sun, water and wind during the summer ends up affecting the skin. The main problems that may arise are as follows:

  • Appearance or deepening of wrinkles due to exposure to the sun. This is especially visible in so-called “thin lines” or “expression lines”.
  • Dehydration. Due to the effects of the sun and chemicals in swimming pool water, the skin changes and loses its natural moisture. This causes reddish, tight, scaly and itchy areas to appear. The skin looks rough, dull and dull.
  • Spots on the skin. The sun also causes the dreaded spots. There are different types of blemishes, and each one of them may require different treatment.
  • Solar damage. Sometimes the sun’s damage to the skin is structural. In other words, it comprehensively affects the skin’s radiance, natural color, moisture, and many other properties. These cases require specialized treatment.

Improve skin after summer

In principle, the key to improving the skin after the summer is to carry out a deep cleansing, complemented with adequate hydration. To do this, you can use homemade formulas or go to a beauty center.  Ideally, you should do both.

The steps you should follow are:

  • Cleaning. As a first measure, facial masks can be made with natural ingredients. If you think the damage was too deep and you want to improve the skin in a more visible way, it is advisable to have a peel and exfoliate, if possible at a beauty center.
  • Intensive hydration. Basically, it involves applying a moisturizer several times a day to improve the skin. Regular moisturizer may not work normally. Therefore, it is advisable to supplement this measure with a homemade mask and drink at least two liters of water a day.

A very suitable cleansing mask is a mixture between an egg white and a teaspoon of honey. Apply to face and leave for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Apply three times a week, then twice, and finally just once.

You can also do a basic homemade scrub. The simplest is to mix two teaspoons of oat flakes and one teaspoon of ground almonds. Mix with warm water until it forms a paste. Apply, leave for 15 minutes and remove with a towel soaked in warm water.

Additional Tips

Apply sunscreen in summer

You may also need to do something to remove the skin blemishes. There is a homemade formula that can help. Just squeeze some lemons and apply the juice to your skin with a cotton swab. Leave on overnight and remove in the morning. Never expose yourself to the sun while using this substance, as this will accentuate the stains.

Dermatologists also recommend  following some care routines to improve your skin  when the summer is over. Are the following:

  • Apply sunscreen every day, even if the sun is hidden. Don’t forget that haze burns too.
  • Thoroughly clean your skin morning and night every day.
  • Apply a moisturizer at least twice a day.
  • Consult your dermatologist to find out which creams are best for you.
  • Perform a deep cleansing of the skin every week, either with homemade products or at the beauty salon.

With these simple indications, your skin will regain the moisture, freshness and shine it had before summer. Remember, constancy is key. So it won’t do any good to take care of your skin for a few weeks and then let it all go.
